Aims and Scope

Doctoral Horizons aims to provide an international forum for original scholarly research in the fields of Theatre and Performing Arts, and Film and Media. The journal publishes peer-reviewed articles that address historical, contemporary, and emerging perspectives on theatre, performance, dance, film, and media. Contributions may engage with, but are not limited to, topics such as performance theory, dramaturgy, directing, acting, scenography, film theory and history, media aesthetics, screen studies, audiovisual culture, interdisciplinary practices, and the relationship between artistic practice and academic research.

Welcoming a diversity of methodologies—including archival research, critical theory, practice-as-research, comparative studies, and interdisciplinary frameworks—the journal supports scholarship that reflects the evolving nature of theatre and film as artistic, cultural, and social practices.

The journal is particularly committed to promoting academic rigor, ethical research standards, and international scholarly exchange, providing a platform for established researchers as well as early-career scholars and doctoral researchers.
