Le Tableau Vivant. On Intermediality in Theatre
Keywords:
theatre, postdramatic, intermediality, presence, othernessAbstract
As a form of manifestation that is an extension of what we might call inter-arts, intermediality entails not only the reconfiguration of theatre‟s status but also that of its structural elements. Thus, presence becomes an unavoidable theme in analytical approaches to theatre. It is a presence that an actor‟s body rewrites in the sense of those multiply-integrative meanings of the on-stage media that are on the same level with the established art of the theatre. In our study we will attempt to point out some of the elements whereby intermediality transforms the theatrical image into a “composition” with paradoxical meanings and significances.
